Mission Moment

PADDLE RAISE CAUSE

This year’s Permian Basin Cattle Baron’s Ball mission moment will support American Cancer Society’s initiatives in blood cancers to break down the disparity barriers that many face in our community, and increase health equity. Together we can fund programs to help our neighbors:

Your support will provide much needed resources in the fight against cancer to neighbors in our own community, and will help reduce the disparities and increase equity in the cancer space across the continuum.

Mission Speaker

Wes Finch is a distinguished Midland-based entrepreneur, energy executive, devoted husband and father, whose faith carried him through a battle with KMT2A‑rearranged Acute Myeloid Leukemia and into remission.

A graduate of Baylor University, Wes has spent more than a decade shaping innovation and growth within the energy sector. As the Co‑Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Crosscut Gas Partners and Commodore Midstream Partners, Wes has played a pivotal role in advancing essential energy infrastructure throughout the Permian Basin. His leadership is marked by vision, integrity, and a steadfast commitment to the communities his companies serve.

His professional accomplishments are matched by his deep dedication to the Midland community, where he has long championed service, philanthropy, and local engagement.

In November of 2024, Wes confronted the greatest challenge of his life when he was diagnosed with KMT2A‑rearranged Acute Myeloid Leukemia—an aggressive and high‑risk form of AML. He sought treatment at MD Anderson Cancer Center, where he underwent intensive treatment supported by an exceptional medical team, the unwavering strength of his family, and a community that rallied around him with profound generosity and care.

Throughout his journey, Wes exemplified extraordinary resilience, faith, and determination. His survival stands as a powerful testament to the lifesaving impact of cancer research, innovative treatment, and world‑class patient care. His story reflects the mission of the American Cancer Society and underscores the critical importance of continued investment in research and support for every individual facing cancer.

This evening, we honor Wes Finch not only for his remarkable victory over leukemia but also for the grace, courage, and spirit that define him. His journey inspires all of us to advance the fight for a world without cancer.
